An important and large Louis XV style ormolu-mounted tulipwood, mahogany and end-cut marquetry armoire By François Linke The mounts designed by Léon Messagé, Paris, Circa 1900-10 The breakfront arched pediment centred by an espagnolette with feathered headdress, fronting a crossed flambeau and quiver and ribbon-tied floral sprays, flanked by feather plumes and a pair of dolphins, above three doors, each with bevelled mirrored plate set within an ormolu frame cast with foliage and trellis, divided by scrolled uprights headed by oak leaves and shell motif, the interior of the central section fitted with ten open-fronted drawers, the side sections each with three adjustable shelves above three drawers with rocaille-cast handles, the wavy apron centred with a cartouche shaped recess cast with a mask, fan, lorgnettes and pommade pot, flanked on each side by a shell and foliate clasp, the quarter-veneered sides inlaid with trailing foliage, on tapering legs and claw feet, inscribed F. Linke to the right side of the apron 119½in. (303.5cm.) high; 117½in. (298.5cm.) wide; 26in. (66cm.) deep
