With swamped turn-off barrel cut with six broad rectangular grooves, cone-shaped at the rear and with stepped mouldings, the muzzle with a pronounced ring bearing three bead fore-sights, to the rear of the ring three chiselled acanthus leaves each in line with the sight, three-chambered hand-rotated breech released by upward pressure on the front of the trigger-guard, border engraved tang grooved for sighting, signed back-action lock with raised waved border and fitted at the front with tubular priming magazine providing priming by gravity for each shot when the pistol is held in the vertical position, with a tap activated by the pan-cover (tap and steel expertly relaced), moulded highly figured root-wood butt with raised panel at the barrel tang, finely inlaid with scrollwork in graduated silver wire heightened with silver dots, finely pierced and chiselled side-plate and escutcheon, the latter with indistinct owner's crest of an armoured arm brandishing a spear, surmounted by a viscount's coronet, and moulded spurred pommel chiselled in relief with swirling acanthus foliage on the cap which houses the hinged steel loading/cleaning rod (some minor surface pitting, rear of trigger-guard tang replaced) 17½ in. (44.5 cm.)
