An exhibition quality 5 inch gauge model of a British Railways Standard Class 4-6-2 live steam tender locomotive Britannia No 70000, The model built by D Ketley, circa 1970. The copper super-heated boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, sight glass, regulator, direction control, lever operated firebox doors, simulated plank flooring, cab controlled drain cocks and injector. The chassis with twin outside cylinders having Walschaerts valve gear, cylinder drains, fluted motion and axle driven water pump. The six wheel tender with British Railways transfer, coal panel and fitted with hand operated water feed pump, detailed rivet-work and fitted ladder to rear. The model finished in British Railway's Brunswick green lined livery with smoke deflectors bearing locomotive name plate, couplings, vacuum hoses, lamp irons, steps and hand rails. Overall length 192cm. Cab width 25cm. The model comes together with display track and wooden stand. Provenance: The Lord Braybrooke Collection, Audley End, Saffron Walden No boiler history available.
