An Antique Yellow Gold, Ruby, Diamond and Seed Pearl Pendant/Brooch, in a tiered lozenge design with scalloped edgework, containing 14 mixed cut round and oval rubies, one old European cut diamond weighing approximately 0.21 carat, four round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.34 carat total, and eight seed pearls (origin not tested). Scratchmark: M.1.4741D. 7.80 dwts. Estimate $ 400-600 The clasp side has been replaced with a more modern closure. Gem Characteristics (graded in setting) DIAMONDS Old Euro Color: H-I Clarity: I1 Overall Condition: There is a large cavity on the crown portion on the table and extending down onto the bezel/star facets. Round Brilliants Color: G-H Clarity: VS2-I1 Overall Condition: No obvious signs of wear are visible under 10x magnification. RUBIES It is the opinion of the gemologist that the rubies in this brooch exhibit internal characteristics consistent with natural ruby that has not been color enhanced with heat treatment, and that the more likely location of geographic origin is Burma (Myanmar). Exhibit a Purplish Red hue with medium tone and light to medium saturation. Note: Many of the rubies have various chips and cavities contained to the crown area.
