An American silver-hilted lion pommel cuttoe carried by Colonel William Peck, John Bailey Verplank's Point, New York, 1776-77 superbly executed lion-head pommel surmounting a yellow-white ivory grip with swell in center-section, spirally-grooved and inlaid with silver band with about eight turns, seated into line-decorated ferrule; pierced and engraved silver guard suspended from which a double silver chain-guard connecting to a stud held by the lion's bite; black leather scabbard with reinforcing line-decorations, three mounts, the upper-most engraved Wilm Peck on the obverse side Elephant Ivory, metal, leather 1776-77
