An Africa and WWI Royal Naval group of five to '270763 P S Smith ERA 3Cl HMS Fox', Africa General Service Medal with Somaliland 1908-10 claps Naval General Service Medal (HMS Lapwing) with Persian Gulf 1909-14 clasp, 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal. *Notes- HMS Lapwing was part of the First Destroyer Flotilla and joined the British Grand Fleet at the outbreak of War in 1914. Present at the Battle of Heligoland, Lapwing attempted to tow away the damaged HMS Laertes under heavy fire but the hawser snapped. At the Battle of Dogger Bank, Lapwing shared the prize money for the German armored cruiser Blucher. Lapwing was also present at the Battle of Jutland and took part in the Battle of Jaffa.
