An 18ct and platinum mounted citrine, opal and diamond hinged bangle by H. Stern, Brasil, the large oval citrine approx. 28 x 18mm, set to either side with round opal cabochons and flourishes of single cut diamonds, al set to a five blade tapered hinged bangle set with a further opal cabochon and four small diamonds, total estimated weight of diamonds approx. 0.54cts, the tapered rounded ends of the bangle stamped '950' and '750' fitted with safety chain stamped '750', inner diameter 6cm, (45.5g), in fitted case by H.Stern, Brasil Hans Stern was born in Germany and as a 17 year old Jewish migrant fled Germany to Brazil at the outbreak of World War II. Beginning his career in gem stone workshops he worked his way up and opened his own store in 1945. Fascinated by vibrant gems he used locally sourced gemstones and deliberately targeted the foreign market and travellers to Brazil and became dubbed the 'king of coloured gems' by The New York Times. H.Stern is now an internationally recognised chain of jewellers operating more than 160 stores across the globe and has featured in several international fashion magazines including Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire.
