Late issue of Jaillot's publication of Sanson's map of North America, the earlier versions of which featured California an island off the western coast. This is the slightly reduced version of the map, with variant cartouches, etc., first issued in 1674; the present size was first published in 1689, then reissued in 1695 and 1696, and, with California possibly reattached to the mainland, in 1719 (this one).
