July 7, 1931 to March 4, 1932. An Account of Adventures in Navigation Diversions, Picturesque Scenes, the Everyday Life of Remote Places, and the Taking of Specimens for the Vanderbilt Marine Museum. Motor Ship Alva. New York: Privately printed, 1933. 4to, blue cloth with gilt front, in original slipcase; illustrated with hundreds of photographs (b-&-w), 13 maps (yellow and red highlighting) of segments of the journey, and seven full-color plates of tropical fish (with tissue guards), and world map endpapers with course of the journey in red; xx, 379, [ii] pp. With a small card printed with "Mr. William Kissam Vanderbilt" and manuscript "Wishing you a Merry Christmas." Condition: Minor toning of page edges, scattered foxing. Slipcase and spine show some moisture spotting (case has some rings from use as a coaster). Face of slipcase and spine of book with sunning.
