[AMERICANA] BRACKENRIDGE, HENRY M. Views of Louisiana together with a journal of a voyage up the Missouri River, in 1811. Pittsburgh: Cramer, Spear and Eichbaum, 1814. First edition. Modern three-quarters maroon calf in clamshell case. 8 3/8 x 5 1/4 inches (21.5 x 13.5 cm); title, verso blank, 3-304 pp. Some foxing and toning, generally a clean copy. An important work on the fur trade (largely of the operations of Manuel Lisa), with an account of Brackenridge's trip up the Missouri with Lisa to a newly established post of the Missouri Fur Company, upstream from some Mandan villages (with an account of these). It also has an account of the expedition to the Yellowstone in 1807, the formation of the Missouri Fur Company, and of the expedition to the forks of the Missouri.
