Height 10 3/4 inches, approximately 28 ounces. The monogram "JPB" is for Judah P. Benjamin (1811-1884), once U.S. Senator for Louisiana and then Secretary of War and Secretary of State for President Jefferson Davis of the Confederate States of America. Benjamin was also the first person of Jewish descent to be elected to the US Senate and to hold a U.S. Cabinet position. •
Generally good condition overall; shield monogrammed BPJ and 1847-1872; marked only sterling underside; small dents to body and light surface scratching from use and over polishing
