Oil on poplar panel, c. 1824, depicting the woman with upswept hair secured with a tortoiseshell comb, wearing a black dress with a white lace ruff and pink ribbon, the gentleman wearing a black coat with brass buttons and a white frilled shirt and cravat, 12 1/8 x 10 in., in period molded giltwood frames. Condition: Panel cracked on woman. Note: Reverse of each board inscribed "Greenleaf/Ancestors of H. Earle Greenleaf," the man dated "1824."
