Condition: Portrait with craquelure, surface grime; Crest with toning, acid burn, not examined out of frame. N.B. Emma Maynicke Stillman was listed in census records as an artist, 19th/20th century. In DAR online records, her birthplace is listed as Magdeburg, Prussia, but she was a descendant of a lieutenant in a Philadelphia company at the time of the American Revolution. A handwritten label affixed to the frame backing provides a brief provenance within the Clendinen family.
