American Late Classical Mahogany and Marble-Top Mixing Table second quarter 19th century, Philadelphia, the marble top over a frieze on scroll brackets, the door of Egyptian form, on projecting scroll feet. h. 39-3/4", w. 37", d. 18"
In overall very good condition. The old, dark surface appears to be original, exhibiting minor wear, abrasions and shrinkage throughout. Tight and solid. The marble top appears to be a later replacement. Retains its door key and functional lock. There are a few typical small flakes to the edges of the veneered surfaces. There is a veneer patch on the top of one of the upper leg scrolls on the side. Near that patch is a veneer loss, about 3/8" by 1-1/4". There is a loss to the lower side scroll foot on the other side, about 3/8" diameter. Some minor shrinkage separations and tears to the "feet". There is a pull out work slide just beneath the marble top, now missing its oil cloth work surface.
