[AMERICAN LAND GRANT]. TOMPKINS, Daniel D. (1774-1825). Calligraphic Manuscript Land Grant with Attached Wax Seal, Signed by Tompkins. Township of Locke, New York, April 27, 1808. 1 folio sheet of ruled paper with wax seal attached by ribbon at bottom. Signed at bottom by Daniel D. Tompkins, the sixth Vice President of the United States (under James Monroe) and the fourth Governor of New York. Approximately 15 ¼ x 22”. 2 vertical and 2 horizontal creases (paper toned, with tears at creases, some edgewear, several creases to lower right corner). Good. This document grants land in Montgomery County to David Drummond; it mentions Governor George Clinton (1739-1812), a Founding Father (“well beloved George Clinton, Esquire, Governor of our said State…”).
