American Gothic Revival Carved and Dark Stained Mahogany Pier Table John Needles, Baltimore, Maryland, circa 1845 The rectangular portor marble top with rounded corners, above an ogee and crenelated apron, raised on an openwork standard formed by arches and columnar supports continuing to a rectangular platform ending in bracket feet and casters, retains original stenciled paper label J. Needles. Height 29 inches, width 40 inches, depth 19 inches. Marble has visible light scratches; large crack in the back left corner that has been repaired and painted in black, about 7 x 8 inches; some cracking and lifting to veneer on base; at least three of the crenellated elements have broken off and been glued back on; edges and base with old marks, scuffs, small chips, scratches throughout; label original to the best of our knowledge
