Engraved allegorical frontispiece after C. Coltellini by F. Gregossi, engraved title-page vignettes and tailpieces, 38 mostly folding engraved maps and plans, 39 engraved plates, list of plates in each vol., half-title in first vol.; small holes at fore-edge corners of frontispiece and first title-page, some scattered soiling and foxing, donation inscription dated 1764 on all title-pages. Contemporary vellum, smooth spines gilt, plain endpapers, red-sprinked edges; lightly soiled and rubbed, heads and feet of spines of vols. 1 and 3 repaired. First Italian edition of the 1762 American Gazetteer published in London; expanded, with new plates and maps. The fine plates depict views, avifauna and fauna, towns, people, and industries—including tobacco curing and sugar and cotton production—of the New World.
