In good "as found" condition with an older refinish and restoration, including past laying down of lifted veneer, a few veneer patches, some veneer tears over shrinkage and normal wear and indications of age and use. The ebonizing has been refreshed. The case is tight and sturdy at the joints. There is a veneer loss to a corner of the lid. The loose piece is presently taped inside the case. There is a veneer loss to the vertical edge of the base, on one side, approx. 3/8" x 1/4". Brass hinges and lock set appear to be original. No key present.
