Broadsheet (274 x 143mm). (Fold marks, rather creased and with a few nicks.) Dickens took the part of Lord Wilmot in Bulwer Lytton's comedy, while Wilkie Collins played Smart, Lord Wilmot's valet. Mr. Nightingale's Diary had first been performed on 16 May, 1851. The cast of only six were Dudley Costello, Dickens, Augustus Egg, Mark Lemon, Collins, Miss Fanny Young and Mrs. Coe.
