The Alphabetum is "a concise compendium of mystical approaches to God from the beginning of Christianity up to the fifteenth century" (Ford, BPH , 10), drawn from Anselm, ps-Dionysius, Augustine, Benedict, Gregory, Jerome, Gerson and others.
