Bibliographical Note and Prefatory Remarks by William Andrews Clark, Jr. Illustrated with 13 color plates from paintings by Allyn Cox, patterned after Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel; two frontispiece portraits, one of Shakespeare by William Wilke after Helen Hall Culver and one of Dryden after portrait possibly by Kneller, on facing pages. 12½x9, red paper boards, vellum spine, spine lettered in gilt, t.e.g.; 8½x6, same as larger volume; both volumes in individual compartments in a single slipcase with printed paper spine label. No. 227 of 250 hand-numbered copies privately printed for William Andrews Clark, Jr., by John Henry Nash Smaller volume is the facsimile of the original 1678 first edition. Issued as a Christmas gift for William A. Clark's friends. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear to slipcase; vellum lightly spotted; else very good. Item number: 191031
