Alistair Gibbs Copy, 2020 Cyanotype on Paper Signed verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) These four images derive from ongoing exploration of the relationship between words and images, sound and sight. 
The use of pre-existing source material reflects the use of sampled sound in my practice as a musician.
Some are very recent thoughts, others reach as far back as 25 years. 
All are rendered as cyanotypes, using natural daylight to make an image from a mechanically-generated negative. London-based artist Alistair Gibbs explores the interplay between sounds, images and words, and our relationship to them. In an echo of his practise in music, his work frequently uses found and pre-existing cultural information and his visual and conceptual source material. As a record producer under the name 'Nebraska', his work has been released on labels such as Rush Hour, Mister Saturday Night and Heist, and he has performed live in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy and the UK. Alistair is also recognised as a designer and creative director. In his eight-year tenure as Vice-president of Brand Design at Burberry, he gained a reputation for translating the most complex situations into simple yet rich and elegant visual narratives - something reflected in the art that he makes.
