Signed mid-century Mexican silver lariat necklace and tassel earring set in original box by famed Taxco silversmith, Alfredo Villasana. Villasana worked for both William Spratling and Hector Aguilar before going out on his own in the 1950's. This set was originally purchased at Tane, Mexico City's premier luxury retail store. The rope lariat measures 36" in length including its tassel ends, and includes its original clasp/ring for adjusting the desired length. The earrings have a total drop of 2.5", and are non-pierced with threaded backs. The set retains its original soft satin finish with a beautiful warm patina, and appears to be unworn. Overall weight is an impressive 228.4 grams. Lariat is marked on tassel end "925 MEXICO STERLING VILLASANA" with "NO. 3 EAGLE" stamp (Taxco). Marked on earring "925" with "No. 3 EAGLE" stamp. Box measures 9"L x 7.5"W. Condition: (Excellent).
