ALFA ROMEO GT VELOCE 2000 VIN. #AR2444283 - A SYMBOLIC MODEL OF THE ’60s and ’70s - ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BERTONE DESIGNS - UNIFIED FINAL VERSION - THE MOST COVETED MODEL, FAST WITH A 2000 cc ENGINE - WELL-PRESERVED ORIGINAL INTERIORS, THREE OWNERS FROM NEW This series started life as Giulia, the fast and sporty sedan, and then it developed into the Coupé, which had an unusual “scalino” (step) on its nose. The pinnacle was reached in 1971, which brought a further evolution, the 2000 Gran Turismo Veloce. The aesthetic changes were minimal, but sufficient to allow the GTV 2000 to be immediately distinguished from its “older sisters”: in particular, the new all-chrome grille and larger tail lights would leave you in no doubt at all. The car had powerfully attractive lines, but an Alfa is adored mainly for its engineering: indeed, it was a thrill just to turn the ignition key and listen to the subdued rumble of the engine turning over. Accelerating, you could delight in the gurgle of the dual draft carburetors, and really appreciate why this model deserved to be called Veloce (fast). The 2000 accelerated beautifully and would take you to a speed of 195 km/h in no time. This version, which remained in production until 1976, is one of the best loved Alfas of the period. Produced in a total of just 38,000 units, it is now quite rare. Indeed few are to be found on the market, and even fewer with the level of originality and preservation of this one with engine number AR*005123*9441. A single owner until 1999, the last one since 2006.
