Alexis Vollon studied with his father, Antoine Vollon He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1885, and then became a member of the jury and committee. He won several medals, including a silver medal at the 1900 universal exhibition. The same year, he was appointed chevalier de la Légion d'honneur.
Mostly known as a landscape painter, he painted in Normandy and in Paris, including various views of the Seine, which made him famous. His talent lies in the transcription of a certain atmosphere.
Member of the Cercle de l'Union Artistique in Paris, he exhibited many works there in 1897 and 1923.
he also exhibited at Galerie Léon Gérard 18 rue Drouot, (La Seine au Pont des Saints-Pères)
