Prague-born Hrska studied at that city's Academy of Fine Arts. He went on to a have a productive career as a poster designer, painter and set designer. His style ranged from rather pure Art Deco stylization, to classical imagery to modernist design. For this theatrical production, Man in a Cage , Hrska, who also designed the scenography, depicts a man with his arm around a lithe woman while in the background people are dancing, or perhaps rioting, against a modernist cityscape.
