ALESSANDRO ROSI Florence 1627-1707 Rebecka vid brunnen Oil on canvas. 117 x 92 cm The painting was originally octagonal. It exists another version of this painting without the figure in the lower part (octagonal canvas, 97 x 79,5 cm, sold in Monaco, Weinmuller, 10-12 March, 1971, illustrated in Elisa Acanfora, Alessandro Rossi Edifir Edizione 1994, no 71, p.91 rep. p.92). The figure in the lower part which introduces the specatator, could most likely be a self portrait of the artist. In that case this would be the only self portrait of the artist in this age. The other only known self portrait, at the age of 16, is to be found in the Uffizi in Florence. (cf Acanfora op. cot. Fig.1 p.110) EXPERTISE Cabinet Turquin, Stéphane Pinta, Paris
