Alchemy & allied arts.- Figulus (Benedictus) and Lorenzo Ventura. Rosarium novum olympicum et benedictum, 2 parts in 1 (part 2 here bound before part 1), title to part 1 in red and black and with hand-coloured woodcut diagram, title of part 2 with woodcut vignette, both parts with contemporary marginalia (including the odd diagram) in red or black, final f. of part 2 excised at foot, with loss of the word 'Finis' and a small woodcut ornament, some staining and spotting, lightly browned, [Ferguson I, 273; Duveen 216], Basel, Benedict Figulus, 1608 bound after Arnaldus de Villanova. Opus Aureum, title in red and black, woodcut initials, inter-leaved with an ms. index, underlining and marginalia in red, final f. excised at foot, ?without loss, some staining and spotting, lightly browned, [Not in Ferguson or Duveen], Frankfurt, Johann Spieß, 1604, together 2 works in 1 vol., 19th century boards, little worn, but holding firm, small 4to ⁂ Two rare works. We can trace no copy of the second work at auction and only two copies of the first between 1979 and 2016.
