ALBUM of prints and original sketches -- A folio album of approx. 190pp. containing several hundred prints, most early 19th century, usually mounted on recto only, together with a lesser number of amateur designs in pencil, pen and ink, or watercolour, some 40 or 50 in total, probably early to mid 19th century. The prints include topographical subjects and portraits, often of small size and mounted many to a page, the majority uncoloured. Those of larger size include two interesting lithographed views of Clifton Suspension Bridge (S. 220 x 285mm.), published by Wright and Bagnall, Bristol, and mezzotints of The Late Mr. Lovegrove (S. 380 x 300), published 1817 by Colnaghi and Le Chien de l' Hospice (I. 322 x 270mm.) -- illustrated on front cover (this slightly torn at lower margin). The original designs include hand-coloured studies of flowers, several pen and ink studies of figures in Italianate ruins, and 2 pencil and watercolour designs of a cocker spaniel in open country; the lot sold as viewed not subject to return.
