Album comique de pathologie pittoresque, recueil de vingt caricatures mdicales . Paris: Huzard-Courcier for Ambroise Tardieu 1823. Oblong 2 o (246 x 320 mm). Half-title, wood-engraved title vignette and tailpieces, 20 hand-colored lithographic plates by Aubry, Antoine Chazal, Colin, Hippolyte Bellang, and Edm Jean Pigal, all lithographed by Langlum, each plate accompanied by two pages of text. (Some marginal soiling, occasional small marginal tears to text leaves.) Original lavender glazed paper board cartonnage , original colored lithographic title mounted on upper cover, spine gilt panelled and lettered (rubbed and somewhat soiled, tears to backstrip.) Probable First Edition. Caricatures of various diseases as social satire. The illnesses lampooned include gout, vapors, indigestion, colic, apoplexy, madness, St-Guy's dance, asthma, jaundice, smallpox, tics, and migraine. RARE. Norman 30.
