Henry Gibbons relating the news of his death (envelope rather crudely tipped to head of p.152 of vol.1) and note by Gibbons's sister (Mrs. J.H.Pinder) tipped in at beginning, some foxing to plates and maps, bookplate of Rev. John Hethersall Pinder, contemporary half green calf, rubbed, spines browned, one label defective, preserved together in modern green calf-backed cloth drop-back box, red morocco labels, 8vo, 1833. ⁂ Survey of the East and South East African coastline. Lt. Henry Gibbons served on H.M.S. Leven and died on 26th December 1822 of fever, one of many who succumbed to tropical disease on the expedition including Charles William Browne who wrote the letter.
