(1779-1862) A collection of 115 official letters signed by Wood, Dawson and other Admiralty secretaries and officials, all addressed to Rear Admiral Sir Graham Eden Hamond, Commander-in-Chief, South America [at Rio de Janeiro], on a wide range of naval matters. Letters from the Department of the Comptroller for Victualling and Transport Services, the Department of the Accountant General of the Navy, the Storekeeper-General, are included; they concern supplies to the Pacific squadron, the discharge of crews, the supply of clothing, changes to existing regulations, orders to convoys, local contracts, pilotage, estimates, the purchase of rope, and many other matters. Each document has been docketed on arrival with the date of receipt and the name of the ship which brought the letter.
