Beschreibung:

.22 caliber, 20" barrel, S/N 13051. The top flat of the barrel is marked with the typical Winchester name and address and 1901, 1902 and 1903 patent dates, along with the model and caliber. With walnut stock and forearm. The rifle is accompanied by a signed and notarized letter from the estate of Ernie Lind that reads: 3/22/92 To whom it may concern: The Winchester described below belonged to the late Ad and Plinky Topperwein, Winchester-Western's great exhibition shooters from 1901 to 1945. ...In 1944 after Plinky (Topp's partner and beloved wife) died, Topp was given the job by Winchester-Western to find a husband and wife team to replace the Topperwein's. Ad picked Ernie and Dot Lind - "The Shooting Linds" - to succeed the husband and wife act he and Plinky had made famous. After Top instructed the Linds on the Topperwein technique, they represented Winchester with shooting exhibitions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Ernie and Dot's spectacular rifle, shotgun and pistol shooting packed in crowds at sportsmans shows, fairs, rodeos, police ranges and military bases for more than three decades. Ad and the Linds became great friends and in 1945 Ad gave the Winchester Model 03 described below to Ernie. Model:1903 Caliber: 22 Auto s/n: 13051 I confirm the above information to be true. Mrs. Ernie Lind (printed and signed in ink). The late Mrs. Ernie Lind also informed the previous owner that this was one of of the Winchester 03's used in Ad's famous 1907 shooting display, where over the course of ten days he shot at 72,500 2 1/4" wooden blocks tossed in the air, only missing nine times. The serial number of this rifle places it before 1907. Condition: With some wear to blue finish and light wear to the stock from typical use. Very good overall condition.
