The most valuable additions to this edition are 1) Bringing up to 1792 the narratives of all known Russian voyages. The 1887 third edition ended with Krenitzin and Levashev's expedition of 1768-69. 2) Steller's narrative of Bering's voyage from Kamchatka to America in 1741. 3) Account of Shelekhov's voyage and settlement in Kadiak. 4) Several other voyages not previously described.
