(A) WINCHESTER THICKSIDE HIGHWALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE WITH EXTRA LENGTH BARREL.

Winchester Model 1885 Thickside flat spring Highwall single shot action by Winchester Repeating Arms Company, shipped in 1894. Blued 36" Winchester No. 3 weight octagon barrel with Rocky Mountain blade front sight and Winchester 22G adjustable rear sight. Case colored Thickside action with single set trigger. Standard walnut stock with rifle buttplate, matching standard walnut forearm with ebony inlay. Cody Research states that this rifle was originally shipped with a 30" No.3 weight octagon barrel, caliber 38-55. Currently the action is fitted with a Winchester rare 36" No. 3 weight octagon barrel in caliber .25-20 S.S. with noticeable signs of the barrel having been changed. CONDITION: Barrel retains a plum-brown appearance with edge wear. Action retains a silvery-grey appearance. Wood has 90% of original finish with use and handling marks. Visible rifling with heavy shooting wear and good mechanics. Description reviewed by Gary Quilan.
