A Victorian silver-plated and cut-glass surtout de table, marks of JOHN TURTON & CO and JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS, Sheffield, circa 1900 comprised of a three-piece plateau, an epergne with one large and three small glass bowls, a pair of vases and a pair of compotes each with glass bowls, the circular bases on openwork acanthus feet and lion-head supports supporting the stem, the plateau with the marks of JOHN TURTON & CO, the rest with the marks of JOSEPH RODGERS & SONSplateau: 145.5cm. long, 32.5cm. wide; 4ft. 9in., 1ft. 3/4 in., with glass bowls: epergne: 54.5cm. high, 34cm. wide; 1ft. 9 1/2 in., 1ft. 1 1/2 in., pair of compotes: 25cm. high, 26cm. diameter; 10in., 10 1/4 in., pair of vases: 47cm. high, 16cm. diameter; 1ft. 6 1/2 in., 6 1/4 in.Condition Report In overall good condition. Minor tarnishing and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use. The top and branches of the epergne appear to be very slightly bent as visible in the catalogue image - this is barely visible and the glass bowls can still sit securely on the silver.
