A VICTORIAN JEWELLED ENAMELLED GOLD PRESENTATION BOX BY JOHN LINNIT (FL. 1809 - AFTER 1840) AND ROBERT GARRARD (FL. 1822-1888), LONDON, 1854 Rectangular chased with opulent foliage in beaded strapwork on matted ground within moulded borders, the hinged cover applied with a central silver-mounted deep-blue enamel medallion set with a rose-diamond crowned initial A under a coronet, within chased foliage and strapwork and with blue enamel reserves at the angles, marked inside cover and base, on rim and flange 3 5/8 in. (92 mm.) long gross weight 7 oz. 17 dwt. (245 gr.) The initial A under a coronet is that of the Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich (1818-1881), later Emperor Alexander II.
