A Victorian Gothic Revival oak quarter-chiming longcase clock, late 19th Century The hood with crocketed pilasters to the front and quatrefoil sound frets to the sides, the trunk with glazed tracery arch door, on stepped plinth with quatrefoil and leafy scroll panelling, with 12 in. wide triangular arched silvered dial, pierced and engraved foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring with applied Roman chapters and engraved Arabic chapters, conforming foliate centre mount inset with a subsidiary seconds ring and applied with a retail plaque signed F. PAXMAN/TEWKESBURY , the arch with triangular foliate scroll mount inset with selection rings for chime/silent and Whittington/Westminster chimes, the eight day movement with anchor escapement, quarter chiming on eight tubular bells and hour striking on further tubular bell -- 90 in.
