A VICTORIAN GILT-BRASS MOUNTED MAHOGANY STRIKING AND REPEATING EIGHT DAY FIVE-GLASS TRAVEL CLOCK DENT, LONDON, No.19681. MID 19TH CENTURY The case with bevelled glasses to top and sides, moulded base raised on gilt-brass bun feet, with faceted square section ribbon-tied handle, gilt sight ring to arched gilt-metal dial mask engraved with foliate scrolls, white enamel Roman dial signed 'DENT/LONDON', blued steel moon hands, the movement with twin chain fusees, maintaining power, large gilt platform for cut bimetallic balance and underslung lever escapement, strike on gong and with repeat button to the side, the back plate with strike/not strike lever, hand set and rear winding arbors, also signed 'DENT/35 Cockspur St./LONDON/19681', secured to the case with brackets to the base board; case key 9½ in. (24 cm.) high, handle down; 5¾ in. (14.5 cm.) wide; 5½ in. (14 cm.) deep
