circa last half 1891, No. 8261, with the six cylinders playing eight airs each, lever-wind double spring motor, single-section comb and further nine-teeth accompaniment-select comb for three-hammer triangle and six bells, signed tune indicator, speed regulator, large double blade governor, the triangle hanging through rear ebonised soundboard flanked by two groups of three engraved bells arranged overlap-buffet, with plain ball hammers, under glass dustlid, in figured rosewood veneered case with fall-front, the lid interior with satinwood veneered panel, brass lid-stay, the top with fielded recessed panel, moulded ebonised finish repeated to the edge, polished bedplate washers, fitting to the Secretaire base of large Davenport proportions, with piano lid, opening to reveal green baize insert writing top, a pair of bleached satinwood drawers, each with fretted pierced drop handles, shaped and ebonised fall brackets on underside and double panelled board below with boxwood strung inlay, the right-hand side with three drawers for the cylinder storage, each holding two, gilt hoop drop handles framed with boxwood stringing, with further stringing to sides and front and ebonised moulding to front stile supports and writing fall contor - the music box sub-case 41 3/4 wide, 16 3/4 deep, 11 high; the superstructure 43 1/2, 33 1/2 depth open; 24 1/4 closed depth, 45 1/2 high, the cylinders 16 1/4, diameter 3
