A VERY RARE AND FINELY CARVED SMALL BAMBOO BRUSHPOT SIGNED ZHANG XIHUANG, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) The delicate cylindrical vessel supported on three short feet, and very finely carved in liu qing style with figures at various pursuits in a lush mountainous coastal setting, with adjoined thatched houses amidst leafy trees on embankments, the moon in the distance peeking out from above a tree-studded cliff, all below a poetic inscription in caoshu alluding to the scene, followed by the signature of the artist, Xihuang, and a square seal reading shi an (Stone retreat), all in the pale skin of the bamboo reserved against the reddish-brown background 3 9/16 in.
