A VERY FINE CASED PAIR OF 40-BORE BOXLOCK PERCUSSION OVERCOAT PISTOLS CIRCA 1850 With octagonal sighted barrels each engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzle, border and scroll engraved actions each incorporating a rear-sight, finely chequered figured walnut butts, silver escutcheons, butt-caps each incorporating a hinged trap-cover engraved with a rosette, border and scroll engraved trigger-guards, plain belt-hooks, and under-ribs each with engraved stirrup ramrod, retaining virtually all their original blued and cased-hardened finish throughout, London proof marks, in original fitted mahogany case lined in green baize with accessories including fluted pistol-flask, wad-cutter and iron pincer-type bullet mould, the lid with trade label for Benjamin Cogswell, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon 3¼in. (8.2cm.) barrels
