1 of roughly 59,000 Model 1855 percussion rifled muskets made at Springfield Armory in 1858. 40" round rifled .58 caliber barrel with 3 iron barrel bands, a brass nosecap, "V / P / (Eagle)" proof, and illegible date. Percussion lock with Maynard tape priming system marked with Eagle on door and dated 1858. Walnut full military stock with illegible cartouche, iron hardware, and owner's name scratched in stock. Comes with original steel ramrod. PROVENANCE: Rich Guckes Collection. CONDITION: 90% original national brite with lightly cleaned look and some surface pitting. Lock has surface pitting. Wood has added coat of oil and added period checkering on forestock. Dark bore with good mechanics.
