A three-piece silver desk-set the inkstand with maker's mark of Cornelius Desmormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd, London, 1929, the blotter and lighter with maker's mark of Saunders and Shepherd and Company Limited, London, 1935 The inkstand formed as the top of a Rolls Royce motor car radiator grill, the centre forming the hinged inkpot cover with 'Spirit of Ecstasy' finial, the front applied with silver and red enamel Rolls Royce badge, the oblong blotter with engine-turned decoration and similar finial, the hexagonal lighter on spreading base, with engine-turned decoration, domed cover, side handle and similar finial, each engraved with the initials W.A., marked on inkstand base and cover, blotter sides, cover and finial and lighter base, cover and finial the inkstand 6in. (15cm.) long, the blotter 5½in. (14cm.) long, the lighter 6¼in. (16cm.) high gross 23ozs. (715grs.) (3)
