The first, Meiji period (late 19th century), the second by Kanesaki, Edo period (18th century) The first, moroha-zukuri pronounced iori-mune, torii-zori forged in a ko-mokume pattern with suguha/ Jizo gonome tempered edge and a togari boshi, both sides carved with naginata-hi, the tang ubu with sujikai file marks and one hole 19th-century ito-maki tachi goshirae comprising a nashiji lacquered saya wrapped in orange silk and mounted with shakudo nanako and gilt-metal hardware and tachi mokko tsuba, the tsuka fitted with gilt paulownia menuki, orange brocade hangers The second hon-zukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori, chu-gissaki forged in a ko-mokume pattern with a suguha tempered edge in ko-nie, the boshi togari with a long return, the tang ubu with strong katte-sagari file marks and one hole, signed Inshu ju Fujiwara Kanesaki, 21 3/4in (55.3cm) long, one-piece silvered habaki In a black-lacquered ishime-ji saya with baleen-wrapped tsuka mounted with iron fuchi-gashira decorated with scrolling vines in Higo style and large circular shakudo menuki with family crests, iron mon-zukashi tsuba
