A Swiss silver pair-cased verge pocket watch Bordier, Geneva, late 18th century The gilt full plate single fusee verge movement with four hexagonal section baluster pillars, sculpted stop-iron block and sprung three-arm steel balance, the backplate with delicate pierced and engraved silver balance bridge incorporating the letters J, L, A, B, set beside large silvered regulation disc and applied scroll pierced infill, the circumference signed Bordier, aGeneve, No. 29654 within applied decorative bright-cut silver band, fitted with circular white enamel Roman numeral dial with repeat signature Bordier, A GENEVE to centre, with Arabic quarters to outer track and fine scroll pierced gold hands (minute incomplete), the plain silver gilt inner case fitted with convex glass and suspension post and stamped with initials C. & M. surmounted by a crown over repeat serial number 29654 to inside of rear cover, the outer case with push-button clasp and engraved with panel incorporating musical trophy flanked by urns within concentric bright cut borders to rear, the pillar plate 34mm (1.25ins approx.) diameter, the outer case 46mm (1.625ins approx.) diameter overall. Provenance: The beneficiaries of the Estate of an Italian connoisseur collector of horological artefacts and works of art. The current lot is possibly by the firm Bordier Freres (established in 1787) with the initials of the brothers incorporated into the design of the balance bridge piercing. Condition report disclaimer
