A SUITE OF LOUIS XVI BEECHWOOD AND AUBUSSON TAPESTRY SEAT-FURNITURE BY PIERRE FORGET, LATE 18TH CENTURY Comprising six fauteuils and a canapé , each with oval back, padded arms and seat covered in close-nailed tapestry depicting pastoral scenes in ribbon-tied medallions, the channelled frame with ribbon-twist moulding, above a curved front-rail, on turned tapering and fluted legs headed by paterae, each fauteuil stamped P.FORGET, restorations and replacements to legs, previously decorated 35½ in. (90 cm.) high; 66 in. (168 cm.) wide (the settee), and 23½ in. (60 cm.) wide (the armchairs)
