A SPANISH 40-BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOL & A SPANISH 15-BORE PERCUSSION BELT-PISTOL
THE FIRST BY G.M. LOGGIA, THIRD QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY, THE SECOND LATE 18TH CENTURY
A SPANISH 40-BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOL & A SPANISH 15-BORE PERCUSSION BELT-PISTOL THE FIRST BY G.M. LOGGIA, THIRD QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY, THE SECOND LATE 18TH CENTURY The first with two-stage slightly swamped barrel with turned girdle and inlaid with silver crosses and a gold-lined maker's stamp, border engraved tang, rounded lock signed 'G.M. LOGGIA', moulded figured walnut full stock inlaid with silver wire scrollwork, iron mounts, engraved mother of pearl escutcheon, green horn fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts discoloured, stock cracked beneath lock, minor loss to wire inlay); the second converted from miquelet, with two-stage barrel with turned muzzle and girdle and engraved with foliage on the octagonal breech-section, walnut full stock carved with foliage around the barrel-tang, engraved brass mounts, iron belt-hook, and later ramrod (iron parts pitted, mechanism at fault) Respectively 6¼in. (15.8cm.) and 3¼in. (8.3cm.) barrels (2)
