Sharps Model 1853 Slant Breech percussion sporting rifle. 24 - 1/2" octagon barrel chambered in .44 caliber. 3 line barrel address marked: "SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG CO./HARTFORD CONN.". Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Steel carbine style buttplate with patchbox. Pewter "Hartford" forearm tip. Mid-range tang mounted sight. Fold down ladder rear barrel sight. CONDITION: Fine overall. Barrel and frame is mostly a grey/brown patina. Rear barrel sight is missing the elevator. Wood has been lightly sanded and refinished, showing minimum wear.
