A SEVRES (HARD PASTE) PINK GROUND IMPERIAL PORTRAIT CUP AND SAUCER CIRCA 1811, RED STENCILLED M. r e N. l e de Sevres MARKS, INCISED Duin TO CUP AND SAUCER, FURTHER INCISED MARKS The cup of bombé form with a flared rim and a gilt scroll handle, the front painted with a portrait of Napoleon I by Gerard within an oval gilt-star cartouche flanked, the ground at the sides with a grisaille trireme and a chariot between laurel borders, the interior richly gilt, the underside inscribed Peint par Gerard, d'apres Isabay. in red, the saucer with a grisaille medallion with a lion against two arrows festooned with laurel (star-crack to underside of cup, slight scratching to enamels)
